North Korea's Border Remains Closed
North Korea's border remains closed to foreign tourists, including British nationals. The FCDO strongly advises against attempting to enter North Korea, as you will be refused entry and may face penalties.
Essential Travel Only
Essential travel is limited to:
- Diplomatic personnel
- Aid workers
- Journalists with valid credentials
If you are considering essential travel to North Korea, you must seek prior approval from the North Korean authorities. You should also be aware that the FCDO cannot provide consular assistance to British nationals in North Korea.
