EF-1 Tornado Strikes Houston Suburb

Damage Survey Underway in Downtown Houston

Residents Without Power in Harris County

An EF-1 tornado struck a Houston suburb early Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The storm system also spawned tornadoes and thunderstorms in multiple areas across the Gulf Coast.

Teams are surveying the damage in downtown Houston where strong winds have caused significant destruction. It is unclear at this time whether the damage was caused by a tornado or straight-line winds associated with the storm system.

Over 600,000 customers in Harris County, which includes Houston, are still without power as of Friday. Downed power lines and other damage are being reported throughout the Houston area.

The storm system is expected to move eastward over the next few days, bringing the potential for more severe weather to other parts of the region.

This is a developing story and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
