Early Life and Career

Mehdi Taremi was born on July 18, 1992, in Bushehr, Iran. His passion for football began at a young age, and he joined his first club, Shahin Bushehr, at 11.

Taremi made his professional debut in 2010 with Iranjavan Bushehr. His impressive performances caught the attention of Persepolis, one of Iran's most successful clubs. He joined Persepolis in 2014 and quickly established himself as a key player.

Rise to Stardom

Taremi's performances with Persepolis earned him a call-up to the Iranian national team in 2015. He made an immediate impact, scoring in his debut against India.

Taremi's goalscoring prowess continued at Persepolis, where he won the Iranian Pro League Golden Boot Award in 2016 and 2017. His performances in the AFC Champions League also impressed European clubs.

Transfer to Europe

In 2018, Taremi signed with Qatari club Al-Gharafa. He spent two seasons there, scoring 35 goals in 48 appearances.

International Career

Taremi has been a regular member of the Iranian national team since 2015. He has represented his country in two World Cups (2018 and 2022) and two Asian Cups (2019 and 2023).

Taremi is Iran's all-time top goalscorer in the World Cup, with four goals. He is also the first Iranian player to score a goal in two different World Cups.
